1 – Great Lakes groups are already reaching out to President-elect Donald Trump.
In a Nov. 6 statement, the Council of the Great Lakes Region congratulated Trump on his election victory.

The council is a network of charitable and non-charitable organizations in the binational Great Lakes region, focused on sustainability.
Council President and CEO Mark Fisher says his group looks forward to working with the Trump administration in the months and years ahead at a time when new security, economic and environmental challenges exist in the United States, North America and the world.
The council also looks forward to working with the administration on deepening the relationship between the United States and Canada, which it says is the country’s most important partner in protecting the Great Lakes.

2 – A Michigan Climate Investment Accelerator Aims to attract billions of dollars to finance the development of clean energy projects for consumers, businesses, nonprofits and local governments.
State and national representatives launched the effort earlier this month.
They say that by scaling up green lending in Michigan, the Accelerator will offer more families and businesses access to financing for clean energy technologies, create good-paying jobs, lower energy costs and support the implementation of the governor’s MI Healthy Climate Plan.
State officials say the Accelerator will invest $11 million and unlock billions of additional dollars from the federal Inflation Reduction Act.

3 -This year, the state’s Water Resources Division plans to monitor surface water quality in watersheds including some in the Saginaw Bay area.
They’ll also consider recommendations for other Michigan watersheds.
A strategy from the state has goals to assess and determine whether water quality standards are being met, measure water quality trends, evaluate the effectiveness of water quality restoration and protection programs, and detect new and emerging water quality problems.
There’s a Targeted Monitoring Request Screening Form online if you wish to make a suggestion.
